Czech Women´s Lobby held a happening on 19 June 2012 on the occasion of the International Day of Gender Equality, this time in the park at Charles Square in Prague. The aim of the happening was to show the need to promote gender equality and inform the public about challenges we face in this area. Despite the general belief that we already reached equality of women and men in the Czech Republic, there are still many issues that disadvantage women (or men).
The event was a form of competition called ”Do we have really equal chances?” - in which participants underwent a course symbolising different disadvantages that women still face. Men running in the role of women – with fake baby bump, juggling childcare, work and food shopping, trying to look effortless in conformity with the beauty myth got their reward – dying later but poorer .
