Following on from last year’s great success, the Women’s Congress was this year held in the National House of Vinohrady, Prague, on Saturday 20 June.
The main theme of this second edition was "Women and the Media".
During the all-day programme, the following was prepared for participants:
Discussions and workshops closely related to the topic in question (women and sexism in the media, women and social media, women's issues in the media, women in decision-making positions in the media), creative workshops focused on the possibility to develop skills and abilities (coaching, mentoring, rhetoric, presentation skills, the basics of media presentations), and the involvement of trade fair organizations, institutions and companies that deal with gender equality.
On this day, the adjacent Míru square hosted accompanying actions for the Women‘s Congress. A diverse cultural programme included stalls with inventive products and services for women, such as entrepreneurs. There was also a programme for children.
The accompanying programme hosted by the American Center in Prague screened the successful film "Miss Representation". The Women’s Congress welcomes the participation of potential candidates in other Czech cities, who are interested in taking part through organising accompanying events and action.
Outcomes of the first Women’s Congress were then delivered to the political representation of the Czech Republic, in the form of resolutions related to the objectives of 2013. The event was preceded by two preparatory meetings: 10.29 2014 in HUB, Prague, and 14. 11. 2014 in Open Garden, Brno, whereby through interactive methods, "The World Café" initiative was developed as an overarching strategy for the 2015 Women’s Congress.
During January and February 2015, round table meetings were held with journalists, focusing on key issues related to the status of women in the media.
