Vision: Stop violence against women
Disrupting the continuum of Violence against women and girls
The Czech Women’s Lobby ‘s Working group against violence against women consists of professional organizations that provide assistance to survivors and victims of violence. The working group is represented in the Committee on Prevention of Domestic Violence and Violence against Women, an advisory body to the Government Council for Equal Opportunities for Women and Men. The working group cooperates internationally with the European Women's Lobby (EWL) within the Observatory on Violence against Women working group.
A billion women, that is every third woman or girl, have experienced violence during their life. It happens in privacy and in the public sphere. The forms of violence against women are interconnected and create a chain of violence. The aim of violence is to silence women and keep them in a subordinate position. According to the UN, violence against women is a proof of the historically unequal status of men and women.
Disrupting the continuum of violence against women and girls is a precondition for achieving real equality between women and men. It is necessary to listen to the voices of the victims and the survivors, to provide them with support and care, and to put an end to the impunity of the perpetrators by ensuring they face justice.
