The Czech Women’s Lobby has published a Shadow report analysing the development of society in terms of gender equality since 2008. The situation of women is improving, there is however no reason for excessive optimism.
The Shadow report on gender equality in the Czech Republic emerges in 2015, the year we commemorate the 20th anniversary of the signature of the UN’s Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. The Declaration established 12 key areas in which women face disadvantages compared to men on a global level. A number of them applies also to the Czech society. Deep rooted stereotypes lie behind this gender inequality, stereotypes that are not only present in the minds of individuals but also engraved in the social institutions or society stands upon.
The press release and the Shadow report can be found below, in Czech only.
