The Czech Women’s Lobby (CWL), as a network of 30 NGO’s and academic institutions focusing on gender equality, submits this Shadow report with regard to the consideration of the Sixth Periodic Report submitted by the Czech Republic to the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women, under Article 18 of the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (hereafter “Convention”). The considered reporting period is from 1 August 2008 to 31 July 2014, with some exceptions where the relevant information is provided as of the end of 2015.

The Shadow report structures a number of human rights abuses, cases of discrimination, as well as inadequate or questionable laws, policies and practices in several areas pursuant to the Articles of the Convention. The submitted text is not comprehensive; it does not cover all the areas of the Convention. The Shadow report is submitted for the 63rd session of the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women where Czech women lobby is going to be represented as well.
