As part of the Women in Climate project, the Portuguese Platform for Women’s Rights (PpDM) invites you to participate in the event Women & Climate: The Voice and Action of Women for a Green Transition. The event is promoted by the Portuguese Platform for Women’s Rights (PpDM), in partnership with Business as Nature (BasN), and co-organised by Coimbra’s Municipality.

This initiative is part of a European project coordinated by the European Women’s Lobby, with funding from the European Union through the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values Programme (CERV).

The event aims to mobilise a network of local, national, and European organisations and stakeholders, in order to identify obstacles, good practices, and recommendations that contribute to a just, inclusive, and gender-responsive climatetransition.

During the morning Conference, “For a Green Transition with Equality: Recommendations for Portugal and Europe”, discussions will be guided by the results of a survey carried out within the project, with a particular focus on the Portuguese context. The survey collected insights from key stakeholders, highlighting priority issues, legislative gaps, and innovative practices.

In this way, the event seeks to fulfil the central objective of Women in Climate: to promote the integration of a gender perspective into public policies and practices related to climate and the environment, at both national and European level, while recognising the differentiated impacts of climate change on women and girls, especially those living in more vulnerable contexts.

In the afternoon, the event will feature the National Meeting of the Guardians of Nature Network, an initiative of BasN, a PpDM member organisation, which acknowledges the vital role of women in biodiversity conservation, in the sustainable development of rural areas, and in shaping transformative climate solutions rooted in local knowledge and collective action.”

Note that the event will provide Portuguese – English simultaneous translation and will be livestreamed on our YouTube channel.
