Time for Gender Equality. Conference on the occasion of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU.

16. 6. 2022

We would like to invite you to a panel discussion on Gender Equality and the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU held on June 16th at 3PM at Václav Havel Library (Ostrovní 129/13, 110 00 Nové Město).

Why is gender equality important? How does it benefit our society?

Gender equality is one of the fundamental values of modern democracies. Despite the progress that the Czech Republic has made in recent years, a number of challenges remain. In 2021, we ranked 22nd in the 27 EU countries in the Gender Equality Index. Let us use our presidency of the Council of the EU to improve the position of women in society.
Please accept the invitation to the panel discussion with international guest speakers, focusing on the most pressing issues of gender equality. Come and discuss with us the situation of women in the post-covid time, violence against women, the importance of care and other topics.

Our guest speakers:

  • Alexis Dutertre, The French ambassador to the Czech Republic
  • Fredrik Jörgensen, The Swedish ambassador to the Czech Republic
  • Radka Maxová, Member of the European Parliament
  • Monika Šamová, Head of the Unit of the Secretariat of the Government Council for Gender Equality at the Office of the Czech Government
