The Bulgarian Platform of the European Women’s Lobby is organising the conference “Women and Climate Change” on 29 August 2025 in Ravda, Bulgaria. The conference is part of a two-
year project of the same name, led by the European Women’s Lobby (EWL), in which six countries are partnering: Bulgaria, Romania, the Netherlands, Portugal, Finland, and the Czech
Republic. The aim of the initiative is to integrate gender equality issues into the European Union’s climate policies through a bottom-up approach — starting from the activism and
knowledge of people at the local level and moving towards advocacy at the EU level.
The conference on 29 August will feature the international participation of Dina Login, President of the EWL, Mary Collins, EWL Secretary-General, and Irina Sile from the Romanian
Women’s Lobby, who are project partners. Together with Iliana Balabanova, Chair and Co-founder of the Bulgarian Platform of the EWL, they will open “Women and Climate Change”, presenting the context and the initiative.
Thematically, the event focuses on three broad areas: climate change and women’s health, the role of local authorities in climate adaptation, and equality policies and climate change. Speakers will include Zornitsa Spasova from the National Centre of Public Health and Analyses at the Ministry of Health, Krasimira Yovkova, Municipal Councillor from Asenovgrad, and Assen Nenov from the Circular Economy Institute.
Through this event, we are bringing together women’s rights advocates, environmental experts, and local authorities to build a sustainable and fair future for Europe.
