Project name: Defending Women’s Rights in the Czech Republic

Project Description:

The project advocates for strengthening gender-sensitive measures to reduce the negative impact of covid-19 on women and to promote gender equality in the Czech Republic so that it becomes a government priority. Women and women’s organisations were on the frontline during the covid pandemic, providing services to others. And these are the main target groups of our project. Thanks to this project, we will be able to continue to support organisations in providing much needed services to the most vulnerable groups of women.

Activities:

1. Advocate for the implementation of a gender perspective in addressing the negative impacts of the covid-19 crisis.

2. Strengthen the safe environment for our member organizations so that they can provide services and support to women in their vulnerable situation.

3. Promote the ratification of the Istanbul Convention against Violence against Women and the implementation of concrete partial measures.

4. Raise awareness of services for women facing the consequences of the COVID-19 crisis and gender inequalities as well as gender stereotypes.

The Alliance for Gender Equality in Europe is a recently formed coalition to promote progress on gender equality and women’s rights. It is supported by the CHANEL Foundation, the King Baudouin Foundation and the L’Oréal Fund for Women and is organised by the Network of European Foundations (NEF).
