Rise against violence against women and young girls and support One Billion Rising!

On the 14th of February 2013 at 17:00 symbolic rising took place in Prague, on the stairs of the National Museum as demonstration of public rejection of violence against women and girls. Host organizations have joined the global movement called "One Billion Rising". It was a call for a billion women and all those who respect them to come out to the streets, dance and simply stand up for women´s rights and demande the end of violence against women.

Every third woman on the planet experience rape or beating during her life. The Movement "One Billion Rising" considers this as unacceptable situation and it is trying to draw attention to the seriousness and extent of violence against women. That is why on the St. Valentine's Day in 168 countries from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe had rised millions of people and by this rising expressed their disapproval. This initiative supported over 13,000 leading organizations (eg. Amnesty International USA, International Rescue Committee, NOW), celebrities (Robert Redford, Jane Fonda, Yoko Ono) and prominent persons including the Dalai Lama. In Czech Republic the support was organized by Czech Women's Lobby, in cooperation with Gail Whitmore (Call me! / Hollaback! Czech and V-Day Prague International Voice) and Lindsay Stewart.

It may be done just by creation of a sign which would say that you reject violence against women than take a picture with it and post it on a Facebook profile of One Billion Rising - Prague, "explains one of the organizers, Chairwoman of the Czech Women's Lobby Jana Smiggels Kavková.
